Hello Colorado!

Hello Colorado!

Today I officially made it to Colorado.

Leonard reaches Colorado

Crossing the state line felt like a milestone. After days of watching the landscape slowly change outside the window, the plains finally gave way to the mountains I’d been looking forward to since this adventure began.

There’s something about Colorado that makes you want to slow down. The air feels different. The sky somehow seems bigger. And everywhere I looked there were mountains reminding me just how small a traveling french fry can be.

The drive through the state was one incredible view after another. Every turn seemed to reveal another mountain range, another winding road, or another place that made everyone quietly reach for their cameras. Sometimes nobody said much at all. We just watched the scenery roll by together.

One thing I’ve learned on this trip is that the destination isn’t the only reason to travel. Some of the best memories happen between the destinations—sharing snacks, laughing about absolutely nothing, finding unexpected overlooks, and watching the miles disappear beneath the tires.

Tonight we are parked beneath Colorado’s wide-open sky, and I’m ending the day grateful for good friends, another successful travel day, and one more state checked off the map.

California is getting closer, but for now, I’m perfectly happy calling Colorado home for the night.
